Yep it sure can be. They say any back pain can be a sign.. its normal to have backaches, but a backache and cramping.. menstrual type pain that continues very well could be preterm. I would without a doubt mention this to your ob right away.. he/she can check your cervix to make sure there are no changes happening. There are medications out there to calm the uterus so your not in constant pain. i had your exact same symptoms at 17 weeks and it has not ended ever.. I am currently 34 weeks now. Its been real rough! Just take it easy and never be embarrased to ask any questions regarding your pregnancy. Keep us posted!
