Hi Julie, I had exactly what you describe during my first pregnancy. I was worried and had a bunch of tests (they were worried about my appendix or an etopic pregnancy). Well nothing was wrong and I simply had to live with the pains. Looking back I think they were gas since they were worse when I ate certain foods (ie. beans, onions, members of the cabbage family, etc.). The bad news is that they lasted for about 2 - 3 weeks and were 24 hours per day (I like you was kept awake at night by them). I had to wear loose fitting clothes to avoid pressure on my abdomen even though I was not really showing at the time. The good news is that I'm now 32 weeks into my second pregnancy and I didn't have them at all this time around.

Hope this helps, Nancy
