This is my first time here, so bear with me! First of all, HCG can be detected in urine approximately one week after fertilization which is actually about a week or so before you should get your period. HCG levels are fairly high at the beginning of pregnancy and drop off as you go along, so if you have had two negative tests and the "controls" on the tests worked, I would say they are pretty accurate. Secondly, if your body is under undue stress - and maybe don't even know it - your body can just skip a period. I know it sounds weird, but let me tell you what happened to me a couple of years ago. I was on the pill and had been for a couple of years. You could set your watch by my periods they were so consistent! I ended up being a week late and panicked. I took a test which was negative. When I didn't start two weeks later and also had pain in my left groin area, I went to the emergency room and was diagnosed with a deep vein thrombosis - a blood clot - in my left femoral artery. It was serious enough for me to be admitted and spend a week in the hospital. I still have problems from that and will have problems for the rest of my life...I'm only 28. I'm not telling you this to scare you but maybe to warn you. Go to your doctor and tell him/her what's going on and insist on a complete physical. Like I said, your body could be under stress from something that you don't even know about. By the way, I never did have a period that month. I guess my body was just too stressed from the DVT. Hey, good luck, and please take care of yourself! And wish me luck too...my husband and I are trying to have a baby. I need all the luck I can get. Take Care!
