Re: Am I pregnant? So confused!From: Marshella (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 12 Aug 1999 22:18:39 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Nora, While its *possible* you are pregnant, its highly improbable. Missing just one pill at any time in your cycle won't normally result in ovulation because there should not be any follicular development leading up to that date, due to the absence of hormones suppressed by the pill. In a 28 day cycle, it takes 14 days to develop a follicle on the ovary in which to release a ripened egg. You can't just develop a follicle, then ovulate all in one 24 hour period. If there was a pill failure, it would have started in the beginning of your cycle with your own body's hormones basically overriding the lower dose hormones in the pill. As for the negatives on the test, that doesn't suprise me, you could still be pregnant. Did you take them first thing in the morning? Do you normally have pretty light colored, diluted urine, drink much fluids? It could be that your HCG levels, if present, are diluted to where the test can't pick them up or are so low because of it being too early in the pregnancy to detect. A false negative is much more likely than a false positive. Yes, worrying about whether you are pregnant or not and whether you want to be or not can delay your period, I know this from personal experience! Try to relax and test again in a few more days. Good luck! Let us know how things turn out for you.
