Am I pregnant? So confused!

I think I may be pregnant, but 2 urine tests (one a home test, and the other at a lab) have came back negative.

I'm taking birth control pills, and the first day of my last period was July 2/99. I took my last pill on August 2/99, and should have started my period on August 4/99. My period is like clockwork and always comes the second day after my last pill. I'm never late, and I've never missed my period. Note: during this cycle I missed taking a pill around the time of ovulation, and also had intercourse the night before. I took a home pregnancy test on August 8/99 (the test was taken in the evening), and it was negative. August 10/99 I saw my doctor and had another urine test which also was negative. The past week I've been feeling quite nauseous, waking up in the morning sweating, and I just overall feel "strange". I haven't had any stress, or anything else that I can think of that would cause me to miss a period. People say that if you want a baby bad enough, you can will yourself to miss a period and "think" you're pregnant. Although having a baby would be fine, we weren't planning on having kids right now, and I certainly didn't have my heart set on it. It is now 8 days past the day I should have started my period, and it still hasn't come. Could it be possible that I had 2 false negative tests? Maybe the tests were taken too early, and/or my HCG levels were too low at the time? Any information and insight you can give is GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!
