FW: fetal hydropsFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netThu, 5 Aug 1999 10:17:05 -0500
I am 18 weeks pregnant and recently,my baby was diagnosed with fetal hydrops. The cause, still unsure. the fetus has develop fluid around the chest and one lung and heart is beating about one half to one third the normal heart rate. I have had an amnioscentisis as we were told that the cause for the development of this condition is trisomy 21. If the results of the amnioscentisis come back normal, what other possibilities would be the cause for such condition. At this point, we have decided not to terminate the pregnancy no matter what the outcome of the tests. But, it would be encouraging to know more regarding this condition. As for babies that do make it to full term and are born, have there been any reports showing they live more than a year. Thank you for your time. Sincerely, Tina Collins El Paso, Texas
