Re: d+cFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Jul 1999 11:13:48 -0500 (CDT)
Mel, I had a miscarriage last month. My first and forth pregnancy ended in miscarriage. My first I had a d&c which was very painful (I had no anesthesia). My last one I let happen naturally and was soooo glad I did! I was able to let the HCG drop slowly which helped me (I think) emotionally. It is not always necessary to have a d&c but you will want to be followed by your physician as this is hemorrhaging. You will want to watch for a high fever or soaking a pad per hour. I was also checked every week to see how the hormone level was dropping. This will not happen quickly (mine took 18 days). As long as everything goes well I would suggest letting it happen on its own as there are risks with a d&c. Sorry for your loss - I hope this helps!
-- Amy
