Hi Quinn,

I can't answer your questions regarding the D&C risks, but the main reasons they do them far as I know are to reduce the risk of infection and to help the mom recover more quickly back to prepregnancy state, enabling her to try again sooner (than waiting which can be horrible, as I'm sure you're experiencing now). However, since its been so long.... I would have doubts. Have you not experienced any bleeding at all? It is quite possible for babys to have heartbeats and still be diagnosed as a m/c. It has happened that a D&C has disrupted an otherwise normal pregnancy because of a doctor not being able to find heartbeat. Especially if you are heavy and if your dates may be wrong and you're baby is earlier than you thought, a heart beat can be missed. From all the stories I have heard here and on other boards, its quite suprising that so many mistakes are made with regards to this. If you do go for your D&C tomorrow, do have another u/s first! I'd insist on it. You never know, the reason why nothings happened so far may be that its not going to happen. Good luck, and let us know how things turn out for you!
