Re: current miscarriagesFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netWed, 28 Jul 1999 21:44:41 -0500 (CDT)
I am sorry to hear about your pregnancy losses. There appears to be two separate problems here, recurrent pregnancy loss, and pelvic pain. Laparoscopy is an excellent procedure for diagnosing (and treating) pelvic pain, although it has risks. There is no age limit for this. However, endometriosis has nothing to do with miscarriages. That's another issue, which should be addressed with specific blood tests, an evaluation of the uterine cavity (as you have had) and, if indicated, by testing you and your husband for chromosomal problems (by a blood test). Perhaps your doctor feels that you want the laparoscopy to find out why you are miscarrying. In that case, he is correct in not performing the procedure. However, I would hope that if you tell him about your pain he would consider laparoscopy. If not, you would need to decide how much you value your professional relationship with this particular doctor. It's always best to talk it over with your doctor, and express your concerns, as often it's simply a case of misunderstanding. Best wishes,
