Christine,

Your asking all the questions I was asking back at 17 weeks when my contractions began. Does it feel like menstural cramping to you? Thats how mine started and I was immediatly put on brethine 2.5mgs every 6 hours to hault them. Like you my cervix was normal and the only problem was the contractions/cramps. they came and went and here I am at 30 weeks. I had an (attack as I like to call it) again this past week, yet it was real bad and along with it I had low pressure as well. I asked my doc what would cause this? He said sometimes we can never know. Irritable uterus is a term thats used but not much known about it. My goal is to make it full term. I was upped to 5mgs of brethine every 4 hours now. This is my second pregnancy so maybe my uterus is much different the second time around. the body will eventually adjust to the brethine dosage and will not react as bad as it does in the beginning, but you should only have to increase your dose if it stops working for you. Sometimes the brethine did not even help me and I just had to wait it out.

As far as stress, I question this as in my first pregnancy my mom was terminally ill and I was driving every weekend 2 hours to see her and that pregnancy was perfect so who knows? Anyhow hang in there!!
