Sherry, I'm a ob/gyn advice nurse and I also have irritable bowel syndrome. Taking metamucil 1 tsp with 8 oz. of water has helped my symptoms and it's safe to use during pregnancy. I am also very careful about the food I eat, vegatables have to be very well cooked (especially broccoli) and I avoid spicey foods. Good Luck!
