Hopefully, and most likely, you will not bleed at all. If the placenta reaches all the way to top of the uterus, the most likely result will be that the placenta will be carried away from the cervical os as the uterus expands.

I am not aware of any difference between the two sides, though there could be one.

It can, there is no way to predict, though most bleeds are not serious

The only thing that I know of is complete pelvic rest, meaning no sex, tampons, or douching.
