Bicornuate uterus & twinsFrom: Nicole (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 10 Jul 1999 22:18:29 -0500 (CDT)
I'm 15 weeks pregnant with children # 2 & 3 and have a bicornuate uteus which caused me many problems in my first pregnancy. In my last pregnancy my OB and Perinatologist both agreed that I should have a cervical cerclage to help prevent miscarriage. I had preterm contractions from about 24 weeks, but was able to hold labor off until 38 weeks, only busting one of the two stitches. That was just one baby that gave me so many problems. Now I'm carrying twins and the pain and cramping seem to be doubled if not more, but I have two new doctors who both agree that there is no need for the cerclage. The just want to do level II ultrasounds ever 4 weeks or so to watch the cervix. Does this sound right to you? I'm just having trouble thinking straight between the pain, which keeps me up at night, and the fact that I've met two people pregnant with twins, one already lost them and the second is on bed rest after losing twins less than a year ago. I'm just having trouble putting my mind at ease and it seems the more research I do the more reasons I have to be concerned. Help please. Nicole
