Hi Mars, I just switched from Materna to an over-the-counter prenatal from Spring Valley. It claims to be comparable to Stuart Natal prescription prenatal vitamins. These contain 27 mg of iron (150% RDA). I have not had any problems with them. They were bought at Walmart in the regular vitamin section. I know Target carries OTC prenatals too.
> P.S. Since here in MD I'm finding more and more that Prenatal vitamins Go to the library and look in the PDR. I did and here is a bit of what I found (and this research was done 2 years ago - they may have changed since then): Iron amounts in the following vitamin supplements: Women's Multi-Vitamin (One A Day).....27 mg OTC Prenatal (Target)..........................60 mg Prenate 90...........................................90 mg Precare.................................................40 mg Materna................................................60 mg Natalins................................................60 mg Nestabs................................................36 mg Nifrex-PN...............................................60 mg Zenate..................................................65 mg You can also ask the pharmacist if you can look at the labels. I did that when they switched me from Materna to it's generic equivalent. I wanted to be sure all ingredients and amounts were the same and they (Target Pharmacy staff) were happy to accomodate me.
