The variability of the menstrual cycle is in the proliferative phase, the part from the last menses until ovulation. The secretory phase (from ovulation until the next menses or pregnancy) is highly consistent in humans, lasting 14 days with little variation. If you have an ovulatory cycle that lasts for 35 days, then ovulation would have been around cycle day 21.
