Depo-provera is a progesterone agent, similar to the progesterone produced by your body, and by the placenta (it's not identical but in the same class of hormones). Thus, it is extremely unlikely that something similar to the hormones actually made by the placenta would contribute to a miscarriage. In fact, I do not know of any evidence linking depo-provera to miscarriages. You are on the right track investigating this. Unfortunately, sometimes even a diligent investigation does not find an answer. The good news is that in almost all cases the couple can succesfully have a healthy baby. Best wishes,
