They mixed it in with her bottle. When I got her home and she was just breastfeeding, the straight vitamins made her vomit (and me too, they are so nasty smelling). Her pediatrician never stressed the importance of the vitamins, so I never gave them to her, and she's a very healthy, happy 8 month old, getting into everything. Considering she was only 6 pounds and recoving from illness, I figured the vomitting could NOT be good for her. Just keep taking your vitamins. Her pediatrician also told me not to worry about iron (anemia) until she started solids, as solids somehow interfere with the baby's ability to absorb the iron in mom's milk. Now she gets iron fortified cereal every morning. I read a lot of literature which stated breastfed babies were likely to be anemic.
