What can cause small traces of blood in urine?

Last night I noticed after I urinated some very small amounts of blood on a tissue, very red! Of course I panicked but checked my cervical mucus and it was normal with absolutely no blood tinge to it. 2 Hours passed and again had to urinate yet to find another small spot of red blood in the tissue, I had only wiped up high so im confident it was from the urinary track. Also I looked at my urine and could see small traces of blood like particles in it. Went to my ob today who checked the cervix said it was normal but at times things could irritate it and cause small spotting. Well nothing could have irritated it as I am not allowed to have sex. A urine test today showed small traces of blood yet he was not confident it was from the urine and not the cervix or vaginal canal. I know my body and would recognize spotting. What causes blood in the urine? I do not have a fever nor painfull urination. I took a prenatal about an hour prior to the incident without drinking much fluids.. could this irritate the bladder???? Im puzzled by it and apparently so was my OB's fill in... any ideas?
