Virtually no drugs have licences for use in pregnancy because of the difficulty and expense of proving they are by research. The penicillins and cephalosporins have an excellent safety record though. Remember ... accept no medicine when you are pregnant ...from any source without satisfying yourself that the person prescribing has considered its safety in pregnancy.
