The exact guidelines should be looked for in ACOG, not AMA. To the best of my knowledge the answeres are; For term fetus, FHR 120-160. Variable decelerations are considered fetal stress, early decelerations are considered head compression (normal with labor). Late decelerations are fetal distress, especially coupled with no FHR variability. Prolongd bradycardia below 120 is distress. each case should be evaluated by a qualified professional.
