I am 22 weeks pregnant with my first baby and have not been confident that my ob/gyn is the right one for me. I have spoken to a lot of other women and it seems that my doctor is the only one who has not measured my stomach or measured the fetal heartbeat by now. When I asked him about it at 17 weeks, he said that he would begin at the next appointment but that he can hear that all is normal and see my stomach has grown. We went in for our 21 week appointment and he performed a brief ultrasound and that was it. I asked him about my AFP results from the previous appointment and he couldn't find the results in my file but assured us that they were okay and dismissed the issue. Am I being paranoid or should I be concerned? When we asked him if we could have another ultrasound done by a place with newer equipment (his was older and not clear), he lectured us about "doing what you can do to have a healthy baby" instead of trying to find out too much about the baby now when it may only worry us if something doesn't look right. I am at the point now where I do not feel comfortable with this doctor, but am at a loss as to where to turn since we are already in our 5th month. Do you have any comments/suggestions on how I should handle this?
