Doctors, could I have incompetent cervix?From: Christine (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 7 Jun 1999 12:30:28 -0500 (CDT)
I had a laser surgery done on my cervix for dysplasia about 6yrs ago and a LEEP done about 3yrs ago. I asked my doctor last week if this could cause a problem with my pregnancy. He didn't seem overly concerned and said we'd just "watch it" and he'd take a look in a month when I come back in. He also mentioned something about checking the cervix when I have my next sono done in 6 weeks. OK, so now. . . does this sound like something I should fret and worry about or not? After I had my laser surgery done, the doctor told me she couldn't even see where it had been done, so that seems to have done little damage. The leep left a little scar tissue, apparent when I went to have a hysterosalpingogram done, just inside the opening of my cervix, but if anything my cervix opening was TOO small. I have heard that this condition is usually discovered after the woman miscarries. . . I don't want to find out that way!! And when does that normally happen? What do you suggest I do? Thanks for your help. Christine
