I can only speak on the other end of the spectrum from personal experience. My dad was old and had lots of problems with indigestion. He at first took Maalox, but that constipated him terrible, so they switched him to Mylanta and he got the runs bad. We found what worked best was to alternate the Maalox and Mylanta. Sometimes we alternated days, sometimes every other dose depending on his results on a given day. So the Mylanta in my estimation is the problem. Try other things, Maalox is also safe in pregnancy. This what we use on our units and have switched to Mylanta if we need to for problems with constipation.
