How to assess risk for PIH???

I am the proud mother of a 12 y.o. daughter and a 2 1/2 week old son. My pgcy w/ my daughter was relatively uneventful, unfortunately this recent pregnancy was strife w/ complications.

I developed a moderate marginal abruption at 14 weeks, irritable uterus starting around 18-20 weeks and pre-eclamptic symptoms starting at 33 wks, hospitalization at 34 weeks and induction at 35 weeks due to the pre-eclampsia.

At the time I was induced my BP was all over the place spiking as high as 161/110, protein was avging +1 - +2 on those strips and of course the edema in my feet, hand & face.

Question: How do I assess the risk of developing pre-eclampsia in any future pregnancy? Since this time it did not manifest itself until 33 wks is it likely that it would develop that late next time? or if recurring is it something that happens earlier and earlier? What can I do to ensure I do not have a preemie? Adopt? My son was a robust 35 weeker but we have experienced challenges due to his age (critical jaundice, feeding issues, slow weight gain, lethargy...). I realize his issues are MINOR compared to most preemies, that is why I am so concerned.

Thanks so much for any insight, Alison Mom to Chelsea 11/25/86 & Baby Levi 5/6/99
