Re: Gaining too much weight?

Lemme see...the Dr said 1-2 lbs/month (WHICH if you add up at, heck...let's just say 10 months only adds up to 10-20 lbs...20 lbs for someone who was a bit underweight to begin with???) and you're almost THROUGH 3 months...that adds up to 6 lbs and you're at 7? <insert sarcasm> Oh My Gosh Christine one whole pound over? OK, Gettin' out the wet noodle!

As if we (and I'm talking the generic pregnant woman...not that I currently am...but been there, done that three times) don't have enough to worry about, adding concern over a 7 lb weight gain in 3 months is RIDICULOUS.

That said...lemme relate to you what happened the first time my Dr questioned me on my weight gain with my first pregnancy (which, BTW, I gained between 42-45 lbs with each of my 3 pregnancies). He said..."Carolyn...you put on 5 lbs this month. You are going to have to start watching your weight". I replied with a run down of exactly what I eat on a daily basis and a request from ME to HIM to tell me exactly what I should cut out. He looked sheepishly at me and said..."How 'bout them Dodgers?" I never heard another word about my weight throughout that pregnancy or the next one (Unfortunately, I had to have the same "chat" with my new Dr with my third when I moved to MN). My point is don't let them (whether Dr or nurses) bully you into fitting some set of "standards". Those are set up as GUIDELINES. If you are eating healthy (and even sneaking in a few treats) you should be fine.

BTW...since you are in TX, I would also recommend that you find a pool and spend alot of time in there, ESPECIALLY in the summer. During the summer, my feet swelled and the pool was the only thing that helped keep the swelling out of control. Aqua-aerobics is also awesome for pregnant women. No stress on joints and the added benefit of being in water (reduces the swelling).

Carolyn...who was able to keep to the serving guidelines of a pint of
Ben and Jerry's ONLY during her pregnancies...heh, heh, heh....
