In my case, one factor that effects it is anxiety. My heart tends to race when I am anxious, and conversely, I get physical anxiety symptoms, such as a racing heart, and then I become anxious. You have plenty of reason to be anxious given your history, so I wonder if your heart is racing due to anxiety. Ask your doctor and definitely seek counseling to help you cope with your fears if you feel that they are difficult to surmount on your own. All the best!!
