Baby Update! (And Medical Question)From: JoAnn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 12 May 1999 12:47:27 -0500 (CDT)
First, I want to say thanks to those of you who responded after my previous post regarding pregnancy after stillbirth. I keep hearing the same message from people, try to relax and remain calm, so maybe I should finally listen to the advice instead of "holding my breath". And now for the good part, it's official, I really am pregnant! We had our first appointment today and my np said everything looks right on schedule for a January 1, 2000 baby! Somehow hearing it from her made it much more real to us. She was also very understanding concerning this pregnancy (she was with us when we learned of Elliot's death) and basically told me that we expect to see you in here every week as things progress. It definitely assured me that they expect me to be crazy for the next 34 weeks and that it is o.k. to be so. We don't go back now until the end of June when I'll be 12 weeks along. Hopefully by than we'll be able to pick up a good solid heartbeat at that appointment. Wish us luck! Second, I do have a medical question regarding heartrate. I noticed an earlier post on heartrate and I seem to be having the same condition. I feel like my heart is going to jump right on out of my chest and keep running. When I take my rate it can be as high as 102 while resting. Any ideas? Is this common in pregnancy? I don't remember having this with Elliot. It also leaves me very breathless and lightheaded at times. It's almost like I can't get a deep breath. Some thoughts would be great. Thanks.
