Interesting question. Amnios are sometimes done at 37 weeks (I believe) to check fetal lung maturity. However, once they are considered full term 37 - 42 completed weeks, I don't see a reason for one to be done. There are other tests which are primarily done in the third trimester such as the NST (non-stress test), the CST (contraction stress test), the BPP (biophysical profile), and the GTT (glucose tolerance test). Let's see what the doctors have to say. :)
