I am a highschool student at Notre Dame Prepratory in Pontiac Michigan. In my religion class we were discussing the morality of abortion, and I brought up a hypothetical situation in which a pregnant mother has an unborn child in the womb. If she continues to carry the child she will die, and the only way to save the life of the mother is to abort the child. Could a medical situation such as this actually occur, and if so, what is it called? Are there any similiar medical situations to the one I described? Please reply via email if possible.
