Re: Ampicillin in pregnancy??

Most antibiotics are safe during pregnancy and Ampicillin is one of them. The reason that many meds are listed as "not established safe in pregnancy" is because they have been unable to establish how much crosses the placental barrier. Babies are themselves treated with Ampicillin for signs of infection immediately after birth. Put your mind at ease. It would be very rare that there would be a problem with this. I think you and your baby are safe. KG
