Re: drug testing part of prenatal care?From: Valerie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Apr 1999 19:45:45 -0400
My goodness, Here we are writing letters worrying about the caffeine in a coke, and your question comes along. Perhaps your time would be better spent researching the medical effects of smoking on the fetus, rather than researching the legalities. There is much solid researching backing the negative effects of smoking both cigarettes and marijuana on the fetus. Start at any library. Sorry if I don't sound sympathetic, but there are dozens of us on this list who would be thrilled to be able to get pregnant and maintain a normal pregnancy, and would never take the risks with our unborn that you are taking. You sign your letter, "very scared." I hope you are scared for your fetus rather than yourself! Depends on the State, but you could be delivering an illicit substance to your fetus. If you have quit the residuals should have cleared your system by next month. Good luck to your fetus.
