As she gets older, she may startle at sudden, loud noises -- or may quiet down if moving. Babies can hear (and see, and taste, and smell) in utero, but remember the sounds are muffled -- think of what it sounds like when you are underwater in a swimming pool. I have 3 dogs and after my daughter was born, she would sleep through their barking -- I thought she was deaf until I dropped a pan on the floor (on purpose) and she startled -- she was so used to hearing hte dogs bark from before birth that it didn't faze her after birth! I still think she's going to think her name is "no, no, bad dog!"
