Softmarkers on UltrasoundFrom: KH (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 29 Apr 1999 13:16:50 -0500 (CDT)
I just got the results to my ultrasound which I had at 13 weeks, 5 days. The ultrasound showed two softmarkers 1) thick nupal (neck) folds 2) head skin displaced (excess) w/ potential fluid. In addition, the baby size showed to be in the 90 percentile. My midwife has informed me that the two softmarkers are both potential signs of chromosomal abnormalities. I am in the process of having an appointment set up with a genetic councellor at my hospital, but I know that it could take a week or so to get an appointment. I was hoping that one of the Dr.'s could comment on what are the odds that these softmarkers are just a false alarm, or is this truly an indication that our baby has some deficiencies. I am obviously very worried, and would appreciate any insight into this type of problem.
-- Thank you,
