I had my first two children in hospitals with the traditional nursery/PP set up. My last two children were born in hospitals that HEAVILY encouraged rooming-in and had mother-baby nursing. The M/B set up was so superior. I established a better relationship with my nurses, I only had three people/day to meet instead of 6, more than once I would have the same nurse 3 days in a row. The nurse would learn to know me and my baby and my style of mothering. In PP/nursery style I would have a nurse who would take care of me and my bottom:) and then that would be it, then the next nurse would come in and ask how many wet diapers the baby had and how long she was nursing and then was out the door. As a patient I would strongly encourage your nursing staff to figure out a way to make it work. It benefits the patients so much and I believe once you work out the kinks the nursing staff will benefit too. Karen
