This depends on the size fo the omphalocele. With a very large omphalocele, the intestines (and whatever other organs are outside the abdomen) need to be moved into the abdomen gradually - over a period of time.

My two babies had a multitude of anomalies, including omphaloceles, and the amnio on the second baby was normal (didn't have an amnio with the first but I would presume the same results). However, in our case, all the anomalies were detected on ultrasound.....and they were *real* obvious. Good luck to you and please let us know how things go. :)
