omphaloceleFrom: erin (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 26 Apr 1999 18:27:37 -0500 (CDT)
We just found out after a high AFP and a level 2 ultrasound that our 17+ week fetus has an omphalocele. I had an amnio the same day and I will have to wait 2 weeks for the results. I was not told how large the omphalocele was, but I was told that all other organs (including the heart) appeared normal. I will have to wait for my amnio results to find out if there are chromosomol abnormalities but I would like to know the success rate of surgery for omphalocele? Also, Will the amnio tell us 100% if there are other problems? I have an appointment with a perinatologists in Boston in 2 weeks. Thank you.
