Re: bladder infectionFrom: Mary (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 23 Apr 1999 20:08:27 -0500 (CDT)
Hi Mary, I am sorry to read your most current message about your unanswered posts. I will look into them for you.
>I am a 21 year old currently 16 weeks in my 2nd pregnancy ( 1st ended in I had a bladder infection (my first ever!) halfway thru my last pregnancy over a year ago. I have no idea if the infection causes any problems with the baby but I know you want to get it treated so it doesn't become more of a problem for YOU. A bladder infection can go up the ureters and become a kidney infection. Then you are talking about some major pain. Better to get it wiped out early and avoid the potential problems. I wonder if a *kidney* infection could trigger preterm labor?
>Should I be overly concerned? Overly concerned, no. I would get the antibiotics and be sure to take the full course as prescribed.
>I have heard that they are easy to get in pregnancy, but how can I Yes, they are easy to get while pregnant. Drink plenty of fluids (lots of water) and void often. Pregnant women pee often enough you'd think! Drinking cranberry juice helps too.
>Lastly,. how common are hot flashes? Sorry, I have no idea about this one.
>Im probably just being to concerned, but I don't want to loose another I do know how you feel. I have lost three babies myself (one in each trimester) over the years. It's normal for you to be very concerned and don't let anyone tell you otherwise! Best wishes for a trouble-free remainder of your pregnancy. :) Warmly, Mary
