2nd pregnancy - ? VBACFrom: Nikki (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 23 Apr 1999 10:13:28 -0500 (CDT)
I had a C/S 12/14/98 due to Breech presentation. No problems or complications. The baby was at full term and I had a great pregnancy!! I just found out we are pregnant again and estimated due date will be 12/11/99 - only one year between deliveries! My OB told me that he woldn't recommend a VBAC due to the chance of uterine rupture. He told me that neither the size of the baby or the closeness of the pregnancies would increase a chance of rupture. So......why not a VBAC???? I don't want to change OB's but is he just out of touch? Would he simply like to take the easy way out and do a second C/S?? I've been in the medical field for 6 years and have never heard an OB try to talk a pt. out of a VBAC if they are a candidate. Any advice on how to handle this situation? I've researched all I can and have it all printed - should I give it to him?? Am I crazy or should I just tell him I want to attempt a trial of labor with CLOSE monitoring???? Any advice would be great help!!! Thanks- Nikki
