Echogenic BowelFrom: Reilly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 22 Apr 1999 13:43:52 -0500 (CDT)
At my 19 wk L2 ultrasound the doctors found a mild echogenic bowel (only marker) everything else was good. It was not as bright as the bone but brighter than the other organs. I'm 30 and my triple screen came back 1:4,700 for Downs. They did not recommend amino due to the risk. I asked for a 2nd opinion and went back a week later to see another specialist. She reported that the bowel was not as bright as before (it was not in any concentrated area) as slightly noted on the prior weeks results. Again they did not recommend amino. I have been told this condition happens in normal babies in addition to Downs and CF. I have found about 7 or 8 women on different baby websites with this same problem. It is becoming more of a common thing? How often do you see this finding and the baby is perfectly healthy? Any information would be helpful. 3 1/2 more months of thinking something could be wrong is hard. Thanks for any insight.
