WIFE IN THE HOSPITAL FOR HYPERTENSION

For the past 2 weeks, my wife has had high blood pressure. Her doctors were treating this very lightly and her condition continued to worsen. Yesterday, we switched doctors and the new doctor admitted her not long after he first saw her. Her BP has been consistently in the 140/100 range and she has had headaches and vision problems. Our new doctor looked at her chart and said that she has been high since January and that he would have put her out on bedrest months ago. We are due in June and are almost at 33 weeks now. he said that judging by the levels of protein in her urine, her swelling and our son's low fluid levels, she is on the border of toxemia and could have been in full eclampsia if treatment had continued the way it was being administered. He has her in the hospital for complete evaluation and until he can get the blood pressure stable. He is going to be giving her a shot of steroids to advance our son's lung maturation becasue the doc doesn't know how damaged the placenta is and if conditions don't improve, induction will occur soon. he said best case scenario, we have 6 weeks left which would put him at 38 weeks. Luckily, Camden already weighs almost 4 pounds and is a good sized baby so up until this point, we know that he is developing well. I am just so thankful that we found this doctor and am glad someone is finally taking some action.
