My name is Laura and I am a CNM (certified nurse midwife) Due dates and conception dates have alot to do with the length of the monthly cycle. If the woman you are speaking of has a normal 28 day cycly the estimated date of conception would be about September 4th, although it could be 2 weeks earlier or 2 weeks later then that. While 8 lbs is a good size for a baby it is still possible that it came a couple of weeks early. I have delivered babies up to 11 lbs that were full term, according to estimation and ultrasound and not late at all. Due dates are just an "eduacational guess" on when babies will arrive and are not concrete. The only way to tell for sure if the baby is the man in question's baby is for DNA testing, which is quite expensive. I can understand your concern, but my suggestion is that if they are okay with this that you leave your suspicions to yourself and let them enjoy being a "family" unless you get concrete proof that the baby is not his, and even then you should weigh your decision carefully. They're lives are not yours to live. There is a good chance that it is as the mother says it is, and it would be horrible to cause problems and deprive this baby of a loving family just because of suspicions. Good luck and I wish you wisdom in your decisions.
