Abnormal periods after stillbirth

My son was stillborn in September of 98 and I have been having problems with my cycles ever since. He was 39 weeks gestation and believed to have died due to a cord accident, but an autopsy was never performed. I did not have a period at all until December and when I did it was so heavy that I had to stay off my feet because of the heavy bleeding that I experienced. I bleed for 10 days stopped for 7 and started bleeding really heavy again. I went to see my OB/GYN and she gave me progesterone. Little by Little my periods have returned to normal as far as coming every 28-30 day and flow, but the color of the blood is what concerns me. It is always a bright red and is much thiner than what my periods use to be. Even toward the end of my period the blood remains bright red and then toward the end I spot (still bright red) and then stop. It never turns the dark brown that I have always had in the past. We have 3 other children and after their birth my periods have always returned to normal. I am 36 yrs. old and want so bad to have another baby as soon as possible, but so far I have not been able to get pregnant. In the past I have always gotten pregnant the first month I've tried. Also, I have been using ovulation predictors with no success. Does the fact that my period is bright red mean that anything could be wrong with me? I've been told that this is all stress related, but I'm not sure. I agree the my son's death has been very difficult, but I feel I am grieving in a very health and normal way. I would very much appreciate your imput.
