Without seeing your ultrasound and x-rays, and without knowing your history and performing a physical exam, any input I have is pure speculation. However, it sounds like the IUD is actually outside of the uterus. If so, it is extremely unlikely that the IUD would impact your delivery, whether it's by c/section or vaginal delivery. Since pregnancy increases the blood supply to the uterus and surrounding organs tremendously, and since IUDs can become attached to internal organs, perhaps your doctors are waiting until the 6 week mark to let the blood supply go back to normal so there is not excessive bleeding during the surgery. This sounds pretty smart to me.

Please let your doctors know your concerns. Best of luck, and congratulations ahead of time on your delivery.
