You probably have a non-albicans infection caused by a species of yeast that is not susceptible to monistat or similar agents. In some studies up to 40% of chronic yeast infections are due to non-albicans species. There are a variety of antifungal medications that appear safe in pregnancy that your doctor can use to treat this. Perhaps he or she could do a culture and sensitivity of the yeast, or simply prescribe one of the antifungals that will treat species other than candida albicans.
