The Family and Medical Leave Act gives parents up to 12 weeks of unpaid parental leave after the birth or adoption of a child. There is no guarantee for paid maternity leave. In my case, I used all of my sick leave and vacation leave before going on leave without pay after my son was born. This is in the U.S.

I am a big believer in acupuncture, which doesn't always involve needles. There is a treatment called moxibustion, where an herb is smoldered just over an acupuncture point. In the case of breech presentation, an acupuncturist can do moxibustion over the small toe to get the baby to turn. The practice is more common than you would think, and it has been the subject of clinical trials in the U.S., which have shown it to be effective. It's worth a try!

Best wishes for a safe and joyous birth!
