Re: Loss of sex driveFrom: Thomas (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Mar 1999 12:31:09 -0600 (CST)
17 months after a baby is born, your hormone levels will have returned to your pre-pregnancy levels. It is possible that your thyroid levels if abnormal can affect your libido. It is unlikely that your contraception is affecting it but always possible (possible does not mean probable). The only way to find out is to change your contraception and see if that affects your libido. Regreattably (and I'm sorry to say this yet again) the most likely reason for your loss of libido is the demands of a 17 month child and the changes in your lifestyle and relationships that that causes. That is not a disaster, recognising this and discussing it with your partner can often lead to a better sex life and an improved libido.
