Natural Childbirth

Hi all

I am so happy to hear all these stories about natural childbirth. I am due in 2 months and greatly desire an unmedicated birth. I do not know anyone personally that has ever achieved this other than a friend who was screaming for one but was too far along. I have a very strong philosophy against medication of any sort for a healthy individual who is not immune-comprimised. It is a philosophy that I choose for myself and let others make up their own minds. I think for many people medication and pain relief are necessary. However, FOR ME I think an unmedicated birth is optimal as long as my blood pressure and other vitals and my baby are fine. I am so excited about it I can't wait. I want to experience childbirth to its fullest - pain and all. I believe that my mind and body will be able to tolerate any pain with a purpose. I am actually thrilled with the "challenge" of it. I am not closing myself completely to the option of pain relief but I really believe I can deliver my daughter unmedicated. My friends laugh when I tell them this as this is my first and they already have kids. They tell me I will change my mind once the pain actually hits. I just want to stress that it really is reassuring to read the stories posted by the women who have acheived unmedicated births. By the way, my husband and I are screening doulas to assist us even though I feel VERY comfortable with the midwifes and birthing center I have chosen. Thanks for your wibderful stories.

Tina
