Nicole, As a mother of eight, 1 vaginal birth, 5 c-sections, and 2 VBAC's, I do understand the dilema you are in.

Because I had to present myself to a judge, for permission to have the opportunity to attempt a v-bac, I had to present a concise presentation of the risks, consequences, and the reason this was so importaint to me, and a plan that would assure reasonable safty for me and the baby. I had to consider my age, how my body heals (I don't scar with heavy tissue growth and heal quickly)and the reason for my first section, {car accident in '77).

In doing the research for the arguments, it became clear to me, that the birth center birth I desired was out of the question. I had to make concessions, and it became very clear that the doctors have conciderations that I hadn't accounted for previously, such as malpractice, standard of practice policies dictated by the medical group, and hospital, and personal experience of birth tragedies factored in as well.

As you can see, I did successfully achieve two V-bacs. My concessions were the hospital admission, at the earliest sign of labor, an epidural determined by the Doctors discreasion, any sign of distress, that could lead to demise, maternal or fetal, (the cesareans are done for anyway), and there would be an emergency c-section team in place.

My first v-bac, was nerve wracking, and I felt like I was a time bomb, two nurses refused to paticipate (if they don't want to be there, you don't want them) but the labor progressed, and we were fine. (:

The second v-bac was an induction, at 40 weeks (Though I had controlled my Gestational Diabetes with diet, my sugars were high from 37 weeks, and we did not want to deliver a 10 lb. baby,{my last section was 9 lbs 13oz), so I had work with the diabetes before) and went fine, have it on video.

You have much to consider, I wish you and your family my best wishes.

If I attempt another pregnancy, I would hire a doula, to be at the birth with me, and labor for awhile at home.

Evaluate your circumstaces, there is a great support network out there, ICAN (Internation Cesarean Awareness Network) hold meetings, and provides resoursing informtion.

 Blessings and joy,
