Boy can I relate...and I posted here a couple of weeks ago and this is what I did...please check with your doctor first though... I developed a small hemorroid from my first pregnancy too. But it has not caused me any problems until a couple weeks ago..actually I think I was 31 wks too. It was so painful that I could hardly walk and my job as a nurse requires me to be on my feet for 8 hours doing ALOT of walking. I tried to watch my weight gain this time but inevitably the weight of the baby has caused this. Here is what I did that worked: Prep H did nothing for me...I spoke with my OB who gave me a prescription for Anusol HC supp (get the cream over the supps if you can) Externally I applied Anusol Plus (has an anesthetic) I cleansed the external area first with witch hazel. I had suggestions of sitting on ice but found it very uncomfortable. I also started taking metamucil (should have done it months ago and maybe avoided this whole problem) It took about a week and finally I can't even tell it is there. When I was at home I would lay on my left side when I could. It was suggested that I sit in very warm water in the tub to clean the area but it seem to aggravate it more....that is just my experience. As far as labor, I will make sure I have all of the above available....it was almost worth having another c-sec to avoid the pain of the hemorroids again! Hope this helps,
