How quickly we forget the pain of labor when it's all done, and whine about the tape being pulled off!!! I did the same thing!! :o)

I was also a little freaked out about having something in my spine, and told the anes. that it gave me the willies, but I didn't feel a thing except the "pumping" sensation as it went into the spine. And you'll most likely get it during a contraction (they can't get it in fast enough to avoid that) and you'll forget all about what's going on in back as you cope with the contractions.

And you don't necessarily have to have an epidural... Lots of women give birth without one.
